Back when I was in high school I used to get rides home from the junior and senior girls by telling them that Scott Britt was my neighbor. They all had crushes on him! I remember back when the boys used to play lacrosse out front in their driveway; they were always so nice to me! Mrs. Britt, last time I saw you was at the Christmas party my mom had, and you told me how well all your sons were doing. It sounds like Scott had a very full and happy life. My deepest condolences to your family upon the passing of Scott, and I am so sorry to hear of this great loss. My prayers go out to your family. Please let us know if you need anything at all; my family and I are here for you all.

When I moved to Colorado from Texas Scott was one of my very first friends! He always made me feel welcome! I’m thankful for our friendship and will miss him. I have so many great memories of Scott one of them was always going over to the Britt family house after football games.

Thinking of you all and keeping you in my prayers and thoughts.

Love you Scott

This is from 2008 at graduation. Scott and I have similar last names – Britt and Brown. He was one of my closest and longest friends since 7th grade until the day he left. Because of our names we shared a lot of memories together – such as graduation.

The second is from just a year or so ago. Cassie Mann, Scott and I met downtown when i came home from California to visit. Just old friends reminiscing.

Scott is a special kind of guy. Yes, an all around athlete, but he could also nerd out with the best of them. He was empathetic, funny, generous, knowledgable… he was my default Colorado encyclopedia after moving from California and even loaned me his car for my first date with the woman I’m soon to marry.

I feel very fortunate to have been Scott’s roommate for multiple years in college. These years were also marked by difficult and debilitating procedures on his back. Scott’s mental and physical toughness in the face of such pain was something to marvel at, in part because he was so good at shielding others from it.

He left a mark on my family as well when he visited San Francisco – bonding with my grandmother at the beach over back pain (“totally charmed”, my mom said), and letting me repay the hospitality by showing him around my home town.

I had a long and belated dinner with Scott at the beginning of 2018. He has traveled a tough road through many parts of the country in the last 5+ years…no doubt illuminating rooms with his blonde hair, guarded smile, and persistent wit. He was so happy to be home and excited for what the future had in store.

I’m honored to call Scott my friend, and so proud of him for finding his way back to Colorado. Truly crushed by the news of his passing… I’ll remember him by his love for adventure, his brothers, his parents, Merlin the wizard, his romances, and all of the friends and teammates along the way.

So grateful and full of love for Scott and his family.

Over 20 years ago, I had Scott’s brother, David, in my 5th grade class. Following the birth of my triplets, the Britt family showed so much care and took care of my kids for a couple days while I taught. Such special memories and an example of what an amazing, caring family the Britt’s are. Sending love and prayers to you all in this time of sorrow.

I met Scott in high school, where I was lucky enough to have several classes and play lacrosse with him. I’ll always remember Scott as an incredibly welcoming and kind person. He seemed to possess a happiness and energy that infected everyone around him. I’m grateful for having had the opportunity to know him, he will be truly missed.

I was lucky enough to have Scott in class for several years in high school. I can’t recall anyone who was more genuine and welcoming of everyone he met. He was the cool kid, the jock, and the brain and never once looked down on anyone. When he and Adam, Kevin, Austin, and I got to play basketball together, you’d never seen a more ruthless, but still amazingly likable, competitor.

Scott had an amazing ability to bring out the best in everyone he met. I was always impressed by him, and my heart goes out to the entire Britt family. You raised an incredible son and brother, and I am honored to have known him.

I was one of the many lucky guys who was able to play sports along Scott and his brothers. Well, they played I spent more time watching. He was a welcoming smile, a hard worker, and an incredible athlete. He was a guy who had it all and wanted to share it with everyone. We lost touch like many do after high school, besides an occasional happy birthday. In 2013 I was on my third deployment in the Marines, I hadn’t seen Scott for years yet I received a letter from him. In the middle of an Afghan summer. It was during the most challenging and difficult season in my life. It was a letter that got to see a lot of Southern Afghanistan. It was a great reminder. We hardly exchanged any conversation upon my return, but it is something I will not forget. I, along with so many others wish the circumstances were different. I offer my prayers, my support, and my effort along side your family.
